Exhibition “Blind Spots in the Sun”

During KW35, Kassel Museum Week, internationally renowned artist Henrik Langsdorf exhibited at ruruHaus as well as in KolorCubes’ studio.

He presented his multi-channel video installation “Rudolf Duala Manga Bell, a King in Germany.” The installation is part of the project “Blind Spots in the Sun” and tells about the life of the Cameroonian king Rudolf Duala Manga Bell, who was executed by the German colonial government in 1914. It addresses the shared history with Cameroon and the racism stemming from the colonial period in today’s Germany

After a panel discussion at documenta fifteen’s ruruHaus with Mo Asumang, Henrik Langsdorf, Wopana Mudimu, Princess Marilyn Douala Bell (the great-granddaughter of Rudolf Duala Manga Bell) and Jean-Pierre Félix Eyoum (the great-grandnephew of Rudolf Duala Manga Bell) moderated by Anne Chebu, the second part of the vernissage took place at KolorCubes’ Workspace in the Schillerviertel.
