Ausstellung „Blind Spots in the Sun“

Während der KW35, der Kasseler Museumswoche, stellte der international renommierte Künstler Henrik Langsdorf im ruruHaus sowie im Atelier von KolorCubes aus.

Er präsentierte seine mehrkanalige Video-Installation „Rudolf Duala Manga Bell, ein König in Deutschland“. Die Installation ist Teil des Projekts „Blind Spots in the Sun“ und erzählt vom Leben des kamerunischen Königs Rudolf Duala Manga Bell, der 1914 von der deutschen Kolonialregierung hingerichtet wurde. Sie thematisiert die gemeinsame Geschichte mit Kamerun und den aus der Kolonialzeit herrührenden Rassismus im heutigen Deutschland.

Nach einer Podiumsdiskussion im ruruHaus der documenta fifteen mit Mo Asumang, Henrik Langsdorf, Wopana Mudimu, Prinzessin Marilyn Douala Bell (der Urenkelin von Rudolf Duala Manga Bell) und Jean-Pierre Félix Eyoum (der Urgroßneffe von Rudolf Duala Manga Bell) moderiert von Aisha Camara, fand der zweite Teil der Vernissage im Workspace von KolorCubes im Schillerviertel statt.

During KW35, Kassel Museum Week, internationally renowned artist Henrik Langsdorf exhibited at ruruHaus as well as in KolorCubes‘ studio.

He presented his multi-channel video installation „Rudolf Duala Manga Bell, a King in Germany.“ The installation is part of the project „Blind Spots in the Sun“ and tells about the life of the Cameroonian king Rudolf Duala Manga Bell, who was executed by the German colonial government in 1914. It addresses the shared history with Cameroon and the racism stemming from the colonial period in today’s Germany

After a panel discussion at documenta fifteen’s ruruHaus with Mo Asumang, Henrik Langsdorf, Wopana Mudimu, Princess Marilyn Douala Bell (the great-granddaughter of Rudolf Duala Manga Bell) and Jean-Pierre Félix Eyoum (the great-grandnephew of Rudolf Duala Manga Bell) moderated by Anne Chebu, the second part of the vernissage took place at KolorCubes‘ Workspace in the Schillerviertel.
